SAGE KARAM QUICKEST IN SHORTENED STAR MAZDA FRIDAY PRACTICE FOR THIS WEEKEND'S GRAND PRIX OF BALTIMORE

Baltimore Grand Prix / Sept. 2, 2011 – Dealing with a situation perhaps best described as 'fluid,' the cars and drivers of the 2011 Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear managed six laps during today's single practice session, re-scheduled and shortened to 15 minutes, at the inaugural Grand Prix of Baltimore. Turning the quickest of those six laps was Sage Karam with a 1:34.346 (77.841 mph) in his #88 Andretti Autosport / MAZDASPEED / Comfort Revolution Mazda. Karam, the 2010 USF2000 champion who is racing in Star Mazda this season with scholarship funding from the Mazda Road to Indy, is currently 5th in the championship with two wins and six top-5 finishes.

-- SHOOTING STARS IN THE STREETS OF BALTIMORE --

Star Mazda Championship is the college varsity of IndyCar racing and the hottest young drivers from around the world will show their skills in the inaugural Grand Prix of Baltimore

Baltimore Grand Prix / August 30, 2011 – Baltimore is a city well-accustomed to its place in the history books, but this weekend a new chapter – a fast, colorful chapter full of howling cars and shooting stars – is going to open with the inaugural Grand Prix of Baltimore and the 12-turn, 2.4-mile street circuit that incorporates two downtown Baltimore landmarks -- the Inner Harbor and Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

Given the historic nature of the weekend it seems appropriate that the longest continuously-operating road racing series in North America, the Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear, should be right in the middle of the action. Now in its 21st year of developing top drivers for IndyCar, including graduates such as Marco Andretti, Graham Rahal, James Hinchcliffe and Raphael Matos, the Star Mazda Championship is the college varsity of IndyCar racing, a high-speed, high-tech training ground for the future stars of the sport.
