SAGE KARAM ROCKETS TO HIS SECOND WIN IN A ROW WITH A 7-SECOND MARGIN OF VICTORY DURING STAR MAZDA ROUND 5 AT THE IOWA SPEEDWAY

Iowa Speedway/June 25, 2011 – Capitalizing on the momentum of his victory last weekend at Milwaukee, his dominance in pre-race testing and the first-ever pole position he scored in cold, damp conditions during qualifying earlier today, rising star Sage Karam went flag-to-flag to score his second win of the season at Iowa Speedway. Crossing the finish line in his #88 Andretti Autosport / MAZDASPEED / Comfort Revolution Mazda, he had a 7.8-second lead over Brazilian runner-up J.V. Horto in the #18 Juncos Racing / Programa Leilõe Mazda. Also of note, scoring his first Star Mazda podium ever, California driver Gustavo Menezes brought his #28 Juncos Racing
/ Truecar / Safety Park Mazda home in 3rd. Horto fought his way forward from his 4th place qualifying spot, while Menezes advanced up through the field from 6th on the starting grid.

THE RED ROCKET BACK ON TOP AS SAGE KARAM SETS QUICK TIME IN FRIDAY STAR MAZDA CHAMPIONSHIP TESTING AT THE IOWA SPEEDWAY

Iowa Speedway/June 24, 2011 – After a four-hour practice session yesterday, the 45-minutes of on-track time at Iowa Speedway allotted to the cars and drivers of the Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear produced a new – and not unexpected – racer at the top of the time sheet… Nazareth, PA native Sage Karam, winner of Round 4 at Milwaukee. His lap of 21.905 (146.925 mph) in the #88 Andretti Autosport / MAZDASPEED / Comfort Revolution Mazda was only a tenth quicker than his best time of yesterday, but was under the official Star Mazda track record set by Peter 'The Irish Steamroller' Dempsey in 2010; the time however does not count as an official new lap record, because Star Mazda recognizeslap records set only during qualifying and the race.

NEW CREAM RISING TO THE TOP – CHILEAN RACER MARTIN SCUNCIO QUICK IN THURSDAY STAR MAZDA CHAMPIONSHIP TESTING AT THE IOWA SPEEDWAY

Iowa Speedway/June 23, 2011 – With three ovals in a row on the 2011 Star Mazda
Championship schedule, each of them dramatically different from each other, it's reasonable to expect that even among the cream of the racing crop, the different currents set up by a 5/8ths mile bullring, a 1-mile oval with virtually no banking and a 1-mile high-banked oval would see different drivers rising to the top… and so they have.
