CONOR DALY WINS HIS SIXTH RACE OF THE SEASON -- FROM HIS 8th POLE OF THE SEASON -- AT ROAD AMERICA IN ROUND 11 OF THE 2010 STAR MAZDA CHAMPIONSHIP AT THE TIME WARNER CABLE ROAD RACE SHOWCAS Elkhart Lake, WI (August 21, 2010) – Conor Daly, adding another layer of polish to an already gleaming season, won his 6th race from his 8th pole position in Round 11 of the 2010 Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear at the Time Warner Cable Road Race Showcase at Road America. The Indianapolis native, who dropped back to 3rd on the opening laps but fought his way back into the lead by lap 5, survived a fullcourse yellow in the closing laps that led to a one-lap shootout and brought his #22 Juncos Racing / INDECK / The College Network / Merchant Services Ltd. Mazda across the finish line 1.5 seconds ahead of the Venezuelan racer Jorge Goncalvez who started 3rd on the grid in the #9 Team Apex / Wabash Capital Investments Mazda. Rounding out the top-3 with his first-ever Star Mazda Championship podium finish was Californian Connor De Phillippi, who qualified his #11 JDC Motorsports / MAZDASPEED Motorsports / Skip Barber Mazda on the outside of the front row, also his best-ever qualifying effort. |
BATTLE OF TWO CON(N)ORS – CONOR DALY TAKES THE STAR MAZDA POLE AT ROAD AMERICA BY 3/10ths OVER CONNOR DE PHILLIPPI FOR TODAY'S ROUND 11 AT THE TIME WARNER CABLE ROAD RACE SHOWCASE Elkhart Lake, WI (August 21, 2010) – Conor Daly, currently leading the Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear points battle with five wins, captured his eighth pole of the season to start on the inside of the front row for this afternoon's Round 11 of the 2010 Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear at the Time Warner Cable Road Race Showcase at Road America. On the 5th lap of the morning qualifying session, Daly turned a lap of 2:05.615 (116.012 mph) in the #22 Juncos Racing / INDECK / The College Network / Merchant Services Ltd. Mazda. |
THE DALY FLIER -- CONOR DALY AGAIN QUICKEST IN DAY TWO OF STAR MAZDA CHAMPIONSHIP PRACTICE FOR THIS WEEKEND'S ROUND 11 AT THE TIME WARNER CABLE ROAD RACE SHOWCASE Elkhart Lake, WI (August 20, 2010) – As it was yesterday during a pair of 'promoter test sessions,' so it was today… with a few differences. Anders 'The Viking' Krohn, currently second in the championship battle, was quick in a morning session with a 2:07.597 (114.210 mph) in the #47 Andersen Racing / Norse Cutting & Abandonment / Trallfa / Colosseum Mazda, but in the afternoon he slid down the order to 5th with a time of 2:07.326 (114.453 mph). The morning session was curtailed by a damp fog that caused the field to be redflagged after a few laps and sit in the pits for 10 minutes before being allowed back on track for a final 5-minute run. |

Mazda, Daly improved his time by more than half a second – from 2:06.612 (115.098 mph) to 2:06.101 (115.565 mph). |
