Road Atlanta / Sept. 25 2009 – Peter 'The Irish Steamroller' Dempsey, starting from his fourth pole of the year, scored his fifth win of the year in the 2009 Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear, leading green-to-checker driving his #3 Juncos Racing / The Collection / Motorsport Ireland / Queyside.ie Mazda at the Petit Le Mans Presented by MAZDA6 at Road Atlanta. Dempsey -- who won four races in 2008, only to finish third in the championship after a disastrous race here at Road Atlanta in which he started from the pole and finished 19th after an on-track collision with another car – extends his slim lead in the heated championship battle and provokes an all-the-marbles shootout at the series finale in two weeks at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

Championship leader Peter Dempsey takes his fourth pole of the year during an oil-spillshortened Star Mazda Championship qualifying session at the Petit Le Mans

Road Atlanta / Sept. 24 2009 – Peter 'The Irish Steamroller' Dempsey scored his fourth pole of the year during a severely-compressed qualifying session leading up to tomorrow's Round 12 of the 2009 Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear at the Petit Le Mans Powered by MAZDA6. Despite a session shortened from 23 to 10 minutes due to crews cleaning up an oil trail laid down by another car, on lap 6 of the session Dempsey turned the pole time of 1:19.584 in his #3 Juncos Racing / The Collection / Motorsport Ireland / Queyside.ie Mazda. Dempsey, the current championship points leader, also owns the outright lap record, set here in 2008 when he qualified on the pole with a 1:18.328 (though he finished 19th due to an on-track incident). This is Dempsey's fourth pole of the year, matching his record of four victories so far.

Road Atlanta / Sept. 24 2009 – As he has done in the previous three sessions, Peter 'The Irish Steamroller' Dempsey set the fast time in the final practice session prior to this afternoon's qualifying session to set the grid for Round 12 of the Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear at the Petit Le Mans Powered by MAZDA6 at Road Atlanta. His quick time of 1:19.438 in #3 Juncos Racing / The Collection / Motorsport Ireland / Queyside.ie Mazda was well shy of the 1:18.328 track record he set in qualifying for the pole at last year's race here, but it was still almost 4/10ths of quicker than the 2nd-quickest car in the final session, Richard Kent, who turned a 1:19.810 in the #33 Andersen Racing / Traka Allied Interior Products Mazda.

Road Atlanta / Sept. 23. 2009 -- Finally taking the measure of themselves, their machines and the track on the second day of pre-race testing, the drivers of the Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear started turning some serious practice times during Wednesday's single on-track session. As was the case on Tuesday, the quickest driver in the session was also the championship points leader and winner of four races so far this season, Peter 'The Irish Steamroller' Dempsey. Improving from his 1:20.344 of yesterday to a 1:19.538 on Lap 10 today driving his #3 Juncos Racing / The Collection / Motorsport Ireland / Queyside.ie Mazda, Dempsey and the rest of the front runners are still well shy of the lap record 1:18.328 set last year by – Peter Dempsey.

After an all-day deluge on Monday, Tuesday morning practice for Round 12 of the Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear at the Petit Le Mans Powered by Mazda6 took place under humid, partly cloudy conditions, with the track washed totally clean of any 'grippy' rubber from various teams testing the previous week. Scandinavian racer Anders Krohn, winner at the Milwaukee oval, was quickest in the morning session, driving his #27 Mundill / Trallfa / Colosseum Mazda to a lap of 1:20.492.
