RICHARD KENT WINS FROM THE POLE AT MOSTPORT TO BECOME THE THIRD MULTI-RACE WINNER OF THE 2009 STAR MAZDA CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON Mosport International (August 29, 2009) – On a day turned from gloom to glory, Englishman
Richard Kent, who won the pole in morning fog and rain, converted his advantage to a
dominating race win in Round 11 of the
2009 Star Mazda Championship presented
by Goodyear at Mosport. In doing so, he
became – along with Peter Dempsey and
Adam Christodoulou – one of only three
multi-race winners so far this season
driving the #33 Andersen Racing / Traka
/ Allied Interior Products Mazda. Kent, who
has started from the pole four times this so
far this season – the most of any driver – also won from the pole in Round 5 at New Jersey
Motorsports Park.

Englishman Richard Kent took his fourth pole of the
season in this morning's qualifying for this
afternoon's Round 11 of the Star Mazda
Championship presented by Goodyear at the Mobil
1 Presents the Grand Prix of Mosport. On a damp
but drying track, Kent set the pole time of 1:24.186
(105.153 mph) in his #33 Andersen Racing / Traka
Allied Interior Products Mazda. Kent, currently 8th
in the championship battle with a win from the pole at Race 2 at New Jersey Motorsports park,
has also started on the inside of the front row at the Sebring season-opener (finished 2nd), the
Milwaukee Mile oval (finished 20th).

THE MORNING FLIER -- DEMPSEY FASTEST IN STAR MAZDA FRIDAY P2 BUT CONOR DALY'S QUICK LAP IN P1 SETS THE BAR FOR SATURDAY MORNING QUALIFYING A familiar order re-emerged in the final Friday afternoon Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear practice session at Mosport; championship points leader and 4-time race winner Peter Dempsey was quickest with a 1:15.406 (117.396 mph) in the #3 Juncos Racing / The Collection / Motorsport Ireland / Queyside.ie Mazda. Adam Christodoulou, second in the championship and the only other driver this season with more than one win, was second with a 1:15.467 (just 0.061-sec. behind) driving the #11 JDC Motorsports / Molecule / Alpinestars Mazda. Third was Richard Kent, driving the #33 Andersen Racing / Traka Allied Interior Products Mazda to a lap of 1:15.514 (117.229 mph) while Conor Daly was fourth, turning a lap of 1:15.571 (117.140 mph) in the #22 Andersen Racing / College Network / Indeck / Cytomax Mazda. Rounding out the top-5 was Trois- Rivieres pole-sitter (and 2nd-place finisher) Rusty Mitchell, who turned a lap of 1:15.598 (117.098 mph) in the #66 Mitchell Motorsports / Motorola Mazda. So the top-5 in the afternoon session were all less than 2/10ths of a second apart around the challenging 10-turn, 2.459-mile Mosport road circuit.

CONOR DALY QUICKEST IN STAR MAZDA CHAMPIONSHIP FRIDAY PRACTICE 1 FOR THIS WEEKEND'S ROUND 11 AT THE GRAND PRIX OF MOSPORT Mosport International Raceway (August 28, 2009) – As he was in the first of two Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear test sessions held yesterday, it was MAZDASPEED Motorsports Driver Development Ladder driver Conor Daly who turned the quick time – a 1:14.914 (118.167 mph vs. 1:15.607 (117.084 mph) yesterday – in his #22 Andersen Racing / College Network / Indeck / Cytomax Mazda.

PROMOTER TEST DAY SESSIONS HAVE AN IMPACT ON STAR MAZDA RACERS PREPARING FOR THIS WEEKEND'S ROUND 11 AT THE GRAND PRIX OF MOSPORT Mosport International Raceway (August 27, 2009) -- The Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear held two practice sessions during the 'promoter test day' on Thursday, August 27 prior to the beginning of official practice for this weekend's Mobil 1 Grand Prix of Mosport. While a number of teams tested here in last week, this is the first time all 18 runners in this weekend's field have been on the track at the same time to see how things are shaking down as the series heads into the three-race home stretch of the 2009 season.
