FRIDAY EVENING WEATHER WASHES OUT SATURDAY QUALIFYING - MILWAUKEE MILE STARTING GRID DETERMINED BY PRACTICE TIMES

Milwaukee Mile, West Allis, WI (June 20, 2009) – Thunderstorms that washed out the the Friday night NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race have forced further modifications to the weekend schedule. The truck series race will be made up early this afternoon, forcing the cancellation of the Star Mazda qualifying session, and it has been announced that the starting grid for Round Six of the Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear will now be based on each driver's fastest practice lap from Friday.

With that announcement Richard Kent, from Milton Keynes, United Kingdom, will start from the pole position with a fast time of 27.791 (128.705 MPH) in the #33 Andersen Racing Traka / Allied Interior Products Mazda. Joining Kent ont he front row will be Jorge Goncalvez from Los Teques, Venezuela, in the #72 AIM Autosport Mazda. The 100-lap event is scheduled to run immediately following the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event at approximately 3:00 PM Central Time.

 


UNDER THREATENING SKIES, NEW NAMES EMERGE AT THE TOP OF THE STAR MAZDA CHAMPIONSHIP PRACTICE TIME SHEETS AT THE MILWAUKEE MILE

Milwaukee Mile, West Allis, WI (June 19, 2009) – After an overnight downpour left the track soaked and the infield tunnel flooded to the rafters, crews at the Milwaukee Mile performed heroically to get things dried out in time for both the NASCAR Camping World Trucks and Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear.

FURFARI FASTEST -- YOUNGEST DRIVER IN THE SERIES SETS THE FASTEST TIME DURING STAR MAZDA CHAMPIONSHIP TWO-DAY TEST AT THE MILWAUKEE MILE

Milwaukee Mile (May 22, 2009) – Canadian racer Michael Furfari, at 16 the youngest driver in the 2009 Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear, set the fastest time of the just-concluded 21- car, two-day test series session at the Milwaukee Mile; driving the #13 Juncos Racing / Furfari Paving Mazda, the 5-ft.5- in., 120-pound student from Toronto turned a lap of 27.548 (130.681 mph) on lap 70 of the final session on Thursday afternoon. And just to prove it was no fluke, he backed it up with a 27.550 on lap 71.
