PREDICTABLE RESULT, UNEXPECTED DETAILS -- ADAM CHRISTODOULOU WINS OVER 33 CAR FIELD IN STAR MAZDA CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 3 AT MILLER MOTORSPORTS PARK

Miller Motorsports Park (May 16, 2009) – Given that he dominated all but one of the four practices session over the two days leading up to the race, and put his #11 JDC Motorsports / Molecule Mazda on the pole by a margin of more than 3/10ths, it came as no surprise to anyone that he eventually crossed the finish line ahead of 32 other cars to win Round Three of the 2009 Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear at Miller Motorsports Park. The manner of it, however, was a
bit more interesting.

ADAM CHRISTODOULOU DOMINATES QUALIFYING TO TAKE THE POLE FOR STAR MAZDA CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 3 AT MILLER MOTORSPORTS PARK

Miller Motorsports Park (May 16, 2009) – In an exciting qualifying session that saw the pole locked up on Lap 3, but the occupant of the outside spot on the front row change four times in the final sixty seconds, it was Englishman Adam Christodoulou who put an exclamation point on his dominance of the prequalifying practice sessions with a lap of 1:43.761 (105.751 mph) in the #11 JDC Motorsports Mazda to take the top spot on the grid for this afternoon's Round Three of the 2009 Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear at Miller Motorsports Park. Christodoulou, a rookie in the Star Mazda Championship, was the 2008 U.K. Formula Renault champion and winner of Star Mazda Round One at Sebring, was the only car to break into the 1:43 range; that record, 1:43.650, was set in 2008 by American John Edwards (who went on to win the race from the pole and win the championship).

CHRISTODOULOU FASTEST IN FINAL FRIDAY PRACTICE FOR THIS WEEKEND'S ROUND THREE OF THE STAR MAZDA CHAMPIONSHIP AT MILLER MOTORSPORTS PARK

MMP (May 15, 2009) – English racer Adam Christodoulou, fastest in three of the four practice sessions leading up to tomorrow morning's qualifying session is looking very much like the man to beat in tomorrow afternoon's Round Three of the 2009 Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear at Miller Motorsports Park. And his team, JDC Motorsports, is also looking strong with all four of their cars – Christodoulou, Joel Miller, Alex Ardoin and Caio Lara -- in the top four spots on the time sheet. Christodoulou, driving the #11 JDC Motorsports Mazda turned his lap of 1:44.710 (104.792 mph) on lap 12 of the 45-minute session.

CHRISTODOULOU FASTEST IN FRIDAY PRACTICE 1 FOR THIS WEEKEND'S ROUND THREE OF THE STAR MAZDA CHAMPIONSHIP AT MILLER MOTORSPORTS PARK

MMP (May 15, 2009) -- In the cool of the morning, English racer Adam Christodoulou continued his near-domination of pre-race practice sessions turning a lap (1:44.608 / 104.894 mph) in his #11 JDC Motorsports Mazda that was 4/10ths of a second clear of the second-fastest car, Joel Miller's #2 JDC Motorsports / Fader Higher Productions / Mockett / Burns Truck & Trailer Mazda (1:45.014 / 104/489 mph).

THE OXYMORON OF HEAT – CHRISTODOULOU FASTEST IN PRACTICE 2 FOR THIS WEEKEND'S ROUND THREE OF THE STAR MAZDA CHAMPIONSHIP AT MILLER MOTORSPORTS PARK

As he has done in the majority of the prerace practice sessions so far this season, English racer Adam Christodoulou set the fastest time in the second Thursday practice session for this weekend's Round Three of the 2009 Star Mazda Championship this weekend at Miller Motorsports Park. The oxymoron of heat, however, dictated that, while the warmer temperatures of the afternoon session increased grip levels on the track, it also slowed the cars down in acceleration and top-speed.

ALEX ARDOIN QUICKEST IN PRACTICE 1 FOR THIS WEEKEND'S ROUND THREE OF THE STAR MAZDA CHAMPIONSHIP AT MILLER MOTORSPORTS PARK

In last year's Star Mazda Championship race weekend at Miller Motorsports Park, Louisiana racer Alex Ardoin brought new meaning to the old country western lament "If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all."
