The
2001 Southwest Formula Mazda Series concluded its season on July 7th and 8th.
The last two races were held at Motorsport Ranch in Cresson, Texas.
Following the race on Sunday, the Series held its banquet to honor the
Top Ten Finishers with awards, cash, and prizes. Al (Quad) Boenker, IV (Fort Worth) was crowned the Champion
for the 3rd consecutive year. Dan
Tomlin III (Dallas), with two first place finishes over the weekend, jumped
ahead to take 2nd place away from J.J. Fischer.
J.J. Fischer (Tyler) finished 3rd and was also named Rookie of the Year.
Steve Cook (Pass Christian, MS) was Masters Champion.
