Anne Marie Brooks Named Communications Director for Star Mazda Championship
February 15, 2007 - The Star Mazda Championship Presented by Goodyear
announced today that it has hired Anne Marie Brooks as its' Communications
Director, effective immediately. She will be present at all of the
Championship events, working with drivers, teams and media.
Brooks earned her degree in journalism with a sports writing concentration at
the University of Tennessee Knoxville. While attending school, she played on
the women's rugby team and followed the Vols all over the country as a member
of the Pride of the Southland Marching Band.
Brooks has an established history in motorsports, covering general sports for
The Lebanon Democrat, where she developed her specialty, while also working
for Speedway Media's Racing News, Middle Tennessee Racing News, among others,
and co-hosting a weekly radio show on Nashville's 104.5 The Zone Sports Talk
Radio. She worked for the Bristol Herald-Courier in 2006, when she moved home
to help with the family business.
Although Brooks grew up deep in NASCAR country, she says she has especially
enjoyed covering open wheel teams and events and is looking forward to working
with some of the up-and-coming stars in motorsports.
